Spring is a time of renewal...it is also a time for tax returns....making NOW the perfect time for renewing your preparedness efforts. We have been advised to not go into debt to get food storage or other preparedness items. By shopping wisely and cutting back a little on non-essentials you can get prepared. Start by working toward your three month supply of the foods your family normally eats. It is also important to start getting a financial reserve. Start by saving a few dollars a week. It doesn't have to be painful and a little bit at a time quickly adds up. Associated Food Stores are having case lot sales in March (Bowman's, Dan's, Macey's, etc.). Macey's sale includes long-term food storage items such as bulk whole grains, powdered milk or milk alternatives, storage containers and more. Some stores will have these sales going on through March 18th (check individual stores for details). Wal-Mart has also started stocking long-term food storage items. The prices are good, but not as good as the prices currently at Macey's.

If you have any questions about food storage or preparedness please email Kathy Christensen tokazama@hotmail.com.
